A Gospel Community on Every Campus
Nearly half of America’s college campuses have no known Christian ministry — roughly 500 campuses serving close to 5 million students. Many of these students will go their entire college experience without ever meeting someone who follows Jesus.
That’s the gap EveryCampus exists to close.
EveryCampus began in 2017 when Cru and InterVarsity came together asking: What could we do together that we could never do alone? What started as a partnership between two organizations has grown into a coalition of over 100 ministries united by a common vision — a gospel community on every campus.
What We’re Learning
Here’s the (not so) surprising thing: God has already been at work on these campuses. We just needed to find the people He’d been preparing.
We’ve connected with professors who had been praying for years for a chance to bear witness on their campus — and then watched God answer those prayers in unexpected ways. We’ve met street ministers becoming adjunct professors, ready to start something new. We’ve talked to students at campuses with zero Christian presence who felt too scared or too new in their faith to act — until they discovered they weren’t alone.
That’s the pattern: people already carrying a burden for their campus, waiting for someone to say, “You’re not alone, and here’s how we can help.”
Stories from the Field
A Native InterVarsity alum in Flagstaff, AZ committed to prayer walk six Native-serving campuses — four of which had never been prayed for. Within two weeks, he recruited other alumni to join him, listening and watching for where God is opening doors to coach students into planting new ministries.
A NYC campus staff member took a student to pray at Bronx Community College. While looking for a person of peace, they asked for directions — and ended up sharing the gospel. The student responded: “I want to be saved. How can I be saved?”
Five NYC staff visited New York Institute of Technology for just one hour of prayer. In that single visit, they connected with a student interested in leading a Bible study, prayed with the student government president (who took a step toward following Jesus), and a staff member who overheard the prayer volunteered to be the faculty advisor for an InterVarsity chapter that didn’t even exist yet. That same month, an NYIT student came to faith through a Bible study on another campus.
